Introducing Joyce Cho, PA-C: From PA Student to Full-Time Provider at Good Samaritan Gwinnett
We are thrilled to introduce Joyce Cho, PA-C, as the newest member of the Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett team. Joyce, who graduated from the Mercer University Physician Assistant program in May 2024, has joined Good Samaritan Gwinnett full-time, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board. In honor of her first day and National Physician Assistant Week, we had the chance to sit down with Joyce to learn more about her journey to becoming a PA and what drew her back to Good Samaritan Gwinnett after completing two clinical rotations with us.
Discovering Good Samaritan Gwinnett
Joyce’s connection with Good Samaritan Gwinnett began during her PA studies at Mercer University, when she completed her first family medicine rotation with us in the fall of 2023. Her time here made a lasting impression, shaping her views on patient care and community health.
“I had the best time during my rotation. I learned so much and loved seeing how the providers offered care to the patients. It was really special the way they did it,” Joyce recalled.
This positive experience led her to return for a second rotation in March of 2024 and further confirmed her admiration for the holistic care model that sets Good Samaritan Gwinnett apart.
Why Good Samaritan Gwinnett?
Joyce was drawn to Good Samaritan Gwinnett’s commitment to treating the whole person -physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The clinic’s mission and the opportunity to reach underserved patients aligned perfectly with her values, making her decision to join the team a fulfilling one.
“At Good Samaritan Gwinnett, you have the time to sit with the patient, not only treat and diagnose them, but also pray for them and ask how they’re doing. Building that relationship with patients is really special,” Joyce explained.
Why a PA?
The holistic approach at Good Samaritan Gwinnett reflects the very reason Joyce pursued a career as a Physician Assistant. It gives her the chance to foster genuine relationships with patients while offering comprehensive medical support.
“Being a PA allows me to focus on primary care, which is something I’m really passionate about,” she shared. “It’s not just about treating the fire at hand, but preventing it from getting there.”
Her experience as a medical assistant in a Korean OB GYN office and family medicine office before pursuing her PA degree only deepened her commitment to primary care, especially for non-English-speaking populations like the Korean community she worked with.
Looking Ahead
Joyce is excited to bring her skills, compassion, and dedication to Good Samaritan Gwinnett, where she will continue to provide holistic care to our diverse patient population. Her passion for reaching underserved communities aligns perfectly with our mission, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make.
Please join us in welcoming Joyce Cho, PA-C, to the Good Samaritan Gwinnett family, and be sure to celebrate National Physician Assistant Week by thanking all the PAs who provide such important care to our communities!
