Georgia Board of Public Health Welcomes Dr. Gregory E. Lang, Ph.D., as New Board Member
In December, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp appointed Dr. Gregory E. Lang, Ph.D., as the newest member of the Georgia Board of Public Health.
Dr. Lang, currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer of Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett, is a distinguished figure in the healthcare sector. His extensive experience, spanning more than forty years, covers multiple facets of healthcare, including inpatient care, managed care, practice management, and EMR technology. Dr. Lang’s significant contributions to the field are underscored by his prior role as Chief Executive Officer at the Good Samaritan Health Centers for more than twelve years. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mercer University and his doctorate from the University of Georgia.
In addition to serving on the board of Department of Public Health, he serves as Chair, Board of Visitors, School of Health Sciences, Georgia Gwinnett College; board member of Hospital Authority of Gwinnett County; and on the Advisory Committee of Georgia Charitable Care Network.
Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Kathleen E. Toomey, M.D., M.P.H., said, “I look forward to the valuable insights and ideas Dr. Lang will provide as a member of the Board of Public Health. As I welcome him, I again thank [all the board members] for [their] continuing guidance and support to keep all Georgians healthy and safe.”
The Georgia Board of Public Health, comprised of nine dedicated board members, is responsible for setting policies, establishing standards, and collaborating with the Georgia Department of Public Health to protect and improve the well-being of Georgia residents.
